Beyond Citadel is an FPS inspired by the classics of the genre from the 1990s, such as Doom and Marathon. The game was developed by the independent Japanese studio doekuramori. It is a sequel to Citadel released in 2020.
Story
Beyond Citadel takes us to a post-apocalyptic universe. The titular Citadel is the last bastion of humanity in the war with apocalyptic forces, led by the so-called Trumpeters. The fall of the fortress, however, does not mean the end of human history.
Angels watch over the humans. The main character called the Martyr is entrusted with a mission aimed at overthrowing the Trumpeters. To accomplish this, he must follow the mysterious signal.
Gameplay
In Beyond Citadel we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). We go through various locations and often engage in combat with opponents. On our way, we encounter enemy infantry, armored vehicles, as well as all sorts of freaks.
During dynamic battles with apocalyptic forces, we make use of both firearms and more inventive gadgets. There are various weapons in the game, including pistols, rifles or even rocket launchers.
During combat it is important to that every gun has its strengths and weaknesses. It also wears out over time. The condition of our weapon directly affects its behavior - the worse it is, the more often it can jam.
We can also use skills on the battlefield, the range of which expands as we progress.
Graphics
The graphic design Beyond Citadel was maintained in a retro manga style.
