Platform action game, in which we get to the mythical version of ancient China from the Warring States period. Playing the role of Princess Ji, we travel through different locations and face numerous opponents, making use of the supernatural abilities of the heroine.
Bladed Fury is the work of the independent NEXT Studio. The developers have worked on such games as Death Coming or Iris.Fall.
Bladed Fury takes us to the mythical version of ancient China. At the beginning of the Warring States period (which lasted from 480 to 221 B.C.), an officer named Tian killed Prince Kang, the older princess, Shu, was placed under house arrest, and the younger princess, Ji, was accused of murder and sentenced to exile - Tian did all that to take the throne of the Qi state himself.
However, Ji, who is the main character of this story, did not give up and went on a long, dangerous journey. Her goal is to gain divine powers to help her bring justice and save the older sister. After returning to the palace, the protagonist discovers that she is standing at the threshold of a new world.
The action in Bladed Fury is shown from the side. The gameplay consists primarily of traversing different locations, avoiding traps and jumping on platforms, as well as participating in dynamic fights. Ji must face weaker opponents as well as huge mythical creatures acting as bosses. The protagonist uses both melee weapons (quick and murderous attacks) and her supernatural abilities, which give her an advantage over opponents.
Bladed Fury's two-dimensional graphics look appealing thanks to its original style, which makes the game look similar to Chinese paintings. The unique atmosphere is also created by the soundtrack.

Game Ratings for Bladed Fury Video Game.
GameSpace: 6 / 10 by Damien Gula
Bladed Fury attempts to tell a tale from Chinese legend, but exiles itself into the realm of the unremarkable with several missteps. Combat is not terribly deep and the precision strike system is no implemented well, though the Soul Sliver system adds a unique touch to it. While the sound design encapsulates eastern inspiration, the art design struggles to find footing in one place.
Nintendo Life: 5 / 10 by PJ O'Reilly
Bladed Fury is a good-looking hack 'n slash platformer that tells a decent tale and is set in an engrossing period of history that's been nicely infused here with mythological and supernatural elements. It's Soul Sliver mechanic adds plenty of scope for strategic combat shenanigans and its levels have a few good ideas thrown into the mix. However, all of these positive aspects are let down by poor implementation, dull enemies who don't force you to utilise your moveset, bland and repetitive area layouts, simplistic platforming and constant technical issues that plague combat just as it's starting to up the ante. If the framerate issues are addressed this one may be worth a look for fans of the genre, otherwise it's hard to recommend in its current state.
Nindie Spotlight: 8.5 / 10 by Justin Nation
While side-scrolling slashers have been around for quite some time, and tend to show up in some abundance, I’ve more often than not been disappointed by them historically...
