Blasphemous II Expansion Pack
Release Date: October 31, 2024
A large expansion for the metroidvania with platforming and soulslike elements. Blasphemous II: Mea Culpa offers new quests related to the titular sword. There are also new locations, bosses, NPCs and a completely new ending designed for the Penitent One protagonist.
Blasphemous II: Mea Culpa is a major expansion pack for Blasphemous II, a metroidvania production in the form of a platforming action game with Soulslike elements. The DLC was developed by the independent studio The Game Kitchen - the authors of the base version of the game.
Blasphemous II: Mea Culpa focuses on Mea Culpa, the missing sword that the main character, known as the Penitent One, wielded in the first Blasphemous game. Over the course of four quests, we have to assemble and understand the power of this ancient artifact, traverse two zones, and also face hordes of enemies, led by two bosses. The culmination of our efforts is the alternative ending of the Penitent One's fate.
In addition to the titular sword, the DLC introduces new skills and executions, prayers, and rosary beads. The add-on offers four new characters who we can meet during the adventure, and also allows for obtaining previously unavailable figures and achievements.
The DLC debuted alongside the True Torment update to the base game, which introduced a number of improvements, led by the New Game Plus mode.
Blasphemous II: Mea Culpa is not a standalone DLC, so it requires the base game Blasphemous II.
