Blaster Master Zero for SWITCH and 3DS is 2D platform game by Inti Creates, known from e.g the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. It is another installment of a series, which started in 1988.
Jason Frudnick, a skilled scientist, discovers a mysterious creature. He calls it Fred and takes it to his laboratory. One day something goes wrong and Fred escapes through a hole, which appeared out of nowhere. Without hesitation, Jason pursues the creature and finds himself in a cave, where he finds an advanced vehicle called Sophia-III. Thus the two begin an unusual adventure.
Blaster Master Zero is an oldschool platform game with two modes of gameplay. The first one utilizes a side view perspective; you jump on platforms, overcome obstacles, and fight enemies with Sophia-III. Sometimes you leave the vehicle and go on foot. This mode utilizes a bird's eye view and the game turns into a simple shooter. Both modes feature boss enemies, such as e.g. a giant flying brain or a mutant crab. Every boss has their own range of attacks, which you have to know in order to succeed.
Blaster Master Zero for SWITCH and 3DS features not only classic gameplay mechanics, but also old-school visuals, inspired by 8-bit productions for consoles. The same can be said about the sound layer.

Game Ratings for Blaster Master Zero Video Game.
Niche Gamer: 9.5 / 10 by Michael Jordan
Blaster Master Zero is one hell of a retro remake that hits all the points of the original flawlessly but brings it to the modern era. It general, it's a near perfect experience and a "blast" to play. You will be hard pressed to get a better retro remake that not only respects the original game but improves on it instead of just repeating it. This is a must buy for anyone with a Nintendo Switch.
Metro GameCentral: 8 / 10
A welcome return for one of the forgotten masters of Metroidvania, and an excellent example of how to remaster a retro classic.
Wccftech: 7 / 10 by Kai Powell
Blaster Master Zero tries to recapture the joy of the NES classic, but the out-of-vehicle segments are just as frustrating as they were nearly thirty years ago.
