Dungeon crawler designed to play in a co-operative mode, in which the action is shown from the side. In Blightbound, we traverse gloomy locations and confront hordes of monsters, gaining better and better equipment and gaining access to more characters.
Blightbound is a dungeon crawler in the action RPG convention, designed for multiplayer gameplay. The game was developed by the independent studio Ronimo Games, known for its warmly received game Awesomenauts, while its release was handled by Devolver Digital.
Blightbound takes us to a fantastic world. When dozens of years ago the heroes managed to defeat the Shadow Titan, it seemed that the inhabitants of this land would be able to breathe a sigh of relief. Unfortunately, a mysterious plague emerged from the dead body's antagonist, a fog that turns anyone in its range into a terrifying monster. The heroes we play in the course of the game have no choice but to face a new threat.
In Blightbound, we watch the action from the side, like in classic brawlers. The developers give us over twenty playable characters, each with their own story and set of individual skills. Heroes represent one of three professions - warrior, mage or assassin.
The gameplay consists mainly in wandering through hand drawn dungeons spreading under three lands (Gravemark, Underhold, Blood Ridge) and fighting dynamic battles with hordes of enemies. During the combat we have to show dexterity and reflexes and use the skills of the protagonists properly. In addition, cooperation with the other participants in the struggle plays an important role - as long as the warrior is doing well in the front line, the assassin is perfect for dealing damage from hiding, while the mage, as the chief healer, should stay as far away as possible from the turmoil of war.
The driving force behind the game are tasks that not only push the story forward, but also allow you to load powerful special abilities that give you an advantage on the battlefield. As we progress, we gain new equipment and raw materials to produce better and better equipment, and we unlock more playable characters. In the breaks from wandering through the dungeons and facing the dangers, it is worthwhile to devote some time to expanding your asylum, located high in the mountains, where we can attract craftsmen who supply us with useful items.
Blightbound allows you to play only in co-op mode for up to three players. The multiplayer mode allows you to have fun together both online and on the local network, as well as on a shared screen.
The graphic design of Blightbound game has been maintained in cartoon style. The game combines hand drawn models with elements of three-dimensional graphics and dynamic lighting in an interesting way, which gives a pleasant effect.

This game won't change the world, and it's certainly not the best in its genre. It does, however, have the ability to enchant for several long hours. Some elements should be refined though. Read our Blightbound review.

PlayStation Universe: 6 / 10 by Sebastian Hawden
My opening days with Blightbound were ridden with crashes and bugs. Luckily the say one patch fixed most of these and you, if you buy it, will never have to suffer as I did. When I got through the initial pain, there are parts of Blightbound I liked. I enjoyed combing abilities together, I really enjoyed multiplayer and collecting new heroes is delightful. Be wary of playing alone though, the AI is tosh and the game can get quite repetitive in longer sessions. There are better examples of dungeon crawlers out there but Blightbound does have some good qualities mixed in with its bad ones.
Checkpoint Gaming: 5 / 10 by Cal Stevenson
Blightbound is emerging from a year in Steam Early Access, but it might be doing so too early. Lingering issues with visual elements overlapping each other, uneven party balance, repetitive loot with lacklustre stats, and a bare-bones levelling design suggest that this game could do with more fundamental development work before hitting the big stage. With its creative art and engaging voice talent, there is definite potential here for a fantastic dungeon crawler, but the elements have not come together yet.
VGChartz: 4 / 10 by Paul Broussard
Blightbound is a title without much of an identity to flaunt; it’s utterly devoid of anything that could make it stand out amidst the usual crowd of Steam dungeon crawlers, and it features numerous technical issues that hold over from its long stay in Early Access.
