The developers were inspired by the tale of Red Riding Hood – the player assumes the role of Molly, a girl who decides to visit her grandmother living in the city. Unfortunately, granny has fallen ill. The only medicine able to help her is the edelweiss flower, which grows high in the mountains.

Brave & Little Adventure for iOS, AND and PC is a fable-like, incredibly charming point’n’click adventure game with action presented from a 2D, isometric perspective. The game was inspired by the story of Red Riding Hood, and by Tiny Thief, an accomplished mobile game. The studio responsible for the title, initially released on smartphones and tablets with iOS, and then moved to Android devices and PCs (Windows Linux, OSX) is LightDrop Games, a team for which Brave & Little Adventure is a debut on the game development scene.

Plot

The story presented in Brave & Little Adventure was inspired by the tale of Red Riding Hood. We assume the role of Molly, a brave and sharp girl that one day arrives to a medieval city to meet with her beloved grandmother. Sadly, grandmother’s health has deteriorated, and she lies afflicted in bed. The only medicine powerful enough to help her is edelweiss. Sadly, the flower is known to grow only on mountain tops, and it’s relatively rare.

Without much deliberation, Molly decides to search for the flower. But before she is able to find it on Peak of Winds’ dangerous flanks, she has to make the necessary investigation. It will lead her to different parts of the medieval country (mysterious forests, dark caves, and snow-capped peaks) and allow her to take part in various events, such as harvest festivals. The whole story is told throughout six multi-episode chapters.

Mechanics

In Brave & Little Adventure we mostly spend our time on exploring beautifully designed maps and completing missions that push the humorous plot. The locations had been filled with neutral characters, enemies, interactive objects, and well-hidden items which discovery and correct use is necessary to finish each episode. The maps are also filled with various logical and environmental riddles, requiring a good use of different, often ingenious elements. Sometimes we have to employ stealth to get where we need to be.

Technical aspects

A major highlight of Brave & Little Adventure for iOS, AND and PC are the two-dimensional, fable-like visuals, created in the vein of Tiny Thief graphical layer. Well-thought, heavily-colored locations are richly animated, each having its share of eye-catching elements. The soundtrack too cannot be ignored, with beautiful music adding to the overall unique atmosphere.
