Breath of Fire 6 is a jRPG released on PC, AND and iOS by Capcom's in-house studio. This is the first installment of the series that wasn't designed for consoles.
Plot
Breath of Fire 6 takes us to the fantasy land known from the previous games. The action begins thousand years after a young man activated the Dragon's Power and led to a catastrophe that turned most of the world's surface into a desert. However, the survivors managed to rebuild civilization over time and restore fertility to the lands.
Unfortunately, the end of this idyll is marked by the emergence of a new superpower known as the Insidia Empire, which begins the systematic conquest of the whole land. One of its targets is the hero's home village. Our task is, of course, to avenge our loved ones and find a way to stop the Empire.
Mechanics
We start Breath of Fire 6 by creating a hero. We choose their gender, appearance, first name as well as statistics and starting skills. The gameplay mechanics themselves are a combination of classic jRPG solutions with elements of economic strategy. We spend most of our time exploring the world, completing quests, developing heroes and, above all, fighting hordes of enemies.
The combat system is arcade and takes place in real-time - a key role is to combine attacks into combos and use our artificial intelligence-controlled allies. We can recruit more than 300 companions, but only a small party can accompany us during missions.
On the other hand, the mentioned economic strategy elements were realized by giving us a village. There, we have to collect resources and construct buildings, which provide access to improvements and items useful in the RPG mode.
