Call of Duty: World at War for PC, PS3 and etc. is another installment in the highly popular series of historical first-person shooters. In the previous chapters, except for the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and its sequel, we had the chance to visit villages and towns of Normandy, tasted the life of a Red Army soldier during the siege of Stalingrad, and felt the scorching sun of the North African desert. In the fifth chapter, the developers decided to changed the theatre of operations and send the player to wade through the humid jungles of the Far East archipelagos or to experience the Eastern Front right before the end of the war.

In Asia, American and Australian soldiers fight against the fanatically loyal troops of the Japanese Empire. This war is completely different from the one fought in Western Europe. If given the time, the Japanese turned the islands into fortresses, each possessing a network of underground tunnels, where you have to fight for every inch of ground. You never know if the bushes surrounding you conceal a squad of enemy troops, a machine gun nest, a bunker, or just some tropical birds.

Commandos in Real Life – The Most Amazing Special Operations of World War 2

The missions in Commandos 2 are inspired by the most popular war movies about spec-ops. And these movies were often inspired by Alistair MacLean's books. And these books, mind you, were inspired by real-life events – and these were often amazing.
