Release Date: February 28, 2025 Early Access
A survival game set in a fantasy version of a forest. Everything in Card Survival: Fantasy Forest takes the form of various cards - locations, items or even events. The game simulates realistic life processes and even small details matter, like being exposed to the Sun for too long or having digestive problems.
Card Survival: Fantasy Forest is the second installment of the challenging survival simulator series, created by the two-person indie studio WinterSpring Games. All interactions in the game are performed using cards or combining them together. In contrast to Card Quest and Card Survival: Tropical Island, we are dealing with a mysterious forest in the game which is inhabited by fantasy creatures.
In Card Survival: Fantasy Forest, we try to survive in a dangerous forest, operating with a constantly growing deck of cards. All locations, items, and events in the game are presented as cards, with which we interact directly or by combining multiple cards. For example, exploring the Bush card may reveal the Tree and Stone, while throwing a stone at the tree can provide fruits. In this way, we obtain food, tools, clothes, and useful structures.
However, every activity takes time and affects the statistics. Desire, hunger, temperature and mood are just some of them. Death in Card Survival comes easily, which combined with randomness makes the game a roguelike. We can die from staying in the sun for too long or being attacked by a wild animal.
The game offers details about the life processes of characters, including the simulation of the digestive and immune systems. In addition to a realistic representation of wound treatment, there is a mental health model that includes anxiety, mania, and depression. We can track information about body weight, skin keratinization, and even stool consistency.
Exploring the dynamic ecosystem during changing seasons, we engage in herbal therapy and agriculture. We have in mind the nutrient content of the soil, moisture, and exposure to light or wind. We can either breed animals or hunt them, using weapons or traps that we have constructed ourselves. In addition to this, we cook, construct buildings and gain proficiency in crafts, from woodworking to tailoring.
In the enigmatic world of Card Survival: Fantasy Forest, we also encounter other people and build relationships with them. We can learn from them, benefit from their company on a journey or their help in daily activities.
Card Survival: Fantasy Forest runs on the Unity engine.
