The Chessmaster Challenge is in many ways the truncated version of the tenth edition of the most popular computer chess simulator, Chessmaster 10000. This production was created by PlayFirst, a company dealing mainly with simple browser games.

Chessmaster Challenge is mainly dedicated to beginner chess players, for whom regular releases of the cycle were too extensive. The interface has been greatly simplified and more accessible audio commentary guides have been introduced. They present step by step the basic rules of chess as well as simple play.

If you want to test your skills in practice, you can play in two modes: training and ranking. The first one allows you to practice individual elements thanks to hints indicating permitted and dangerous movements. For more advanced players there is a second form of gameplay, which allows you to take part in a virtual tournament with more than twenty computer-controlled opponents.
