Finding Teddy 2 for PC, PS4 and WiiU is a continuation of a warmly-welcomed independent title from Storybird games released in 2013 for PCs and mobile devices. The new entry in the series was released for personal computers as well as WiiU and PlayStation 4 consoles (the console release is known as Chronicles of Teddy: Harmony of Exidus.
Plot
Even if the basic idea seems to be similar to the one seen in the previous installment, Harmony of Exidus sees us assume control over a completely new hero – an easygoing girl named Tarrant. We encounter the heroine in her room, completely engaged in her favorite hobby – video games. Suddenly, her dwelling is completely engulfed in darkness, while the television screen leaves a bright afterglow. Unfazed, the girl approaches the chest in the middle of her room, draws out a small sword and a shield and approaches the screen, beginning a dangerous quest in the mysterious universe ed only by her favorite toy.
Mechanics
In opposition to the first installment of the series, which was a typical point-and-click adventure game, Finding Teddy 2 is an action-adventure game with platforming and RPG elements, and contains some semblance to the metroidvania genre. As a result, we engage in exploration, completing various puzzles, as well as combat. The authors prepared numerous extensive maps similar to large labyrinths, which make our job difficult, as the player is left without a map. Moreover, each level is filled with puzzles, secrets and unique opponents.
Technical Aspects
When it comes to graphics, the game follows the same visual style (Retro Pixel Art) that we could see in the previous installment of the series. The handdrawn visuals are undeniably appealing and further reinforced by a well-suited old-school soundtrack.
