Cipher Complex is an action spy game developed by Edge of Reality. Its creators have set themselves the goal of bringing some freshness to the genre of stealth games. Instead of condemning players to long sitting in the darkness, getting to know the paths of the guards and their individual elimination, they bet on speed and deadly precision, which makes the game faster and much more brutal in comparison to other titles of this type.
Players take on the role of John Sullivan, a.k.a, Cipher. He started his career in the army, but was quickly moved to a special agency that fights global nuclear threats. During one of his missions he was deceived and eliminated by deceit. He fell into coma and remained in it for many years. But when the danger of a nuclear attack becames tangible, the U.S. government ed of the dormant agent. With the help of the latest medical discoveries, not only has he been awakened, but also his body functions have been significantly improved, enabling him to take advantage of adrenaline. Thanks to this, he is able to do things beyond the capabilities of an ordinary person.
The mission on which Cipher sets off doesn't begin very good, as missiles fired from the nearby base force the hero and his team to evacuate from the plane they were heading to their destination. Only John managed to survive. At this point the players take control of his actions.
The game is very dynamic. Cipher sneaks up to unsuspecting enemies and then begins his deadly dance, sneaking like a lightning from one character to another and inflicting single, deadly blows. If everything goes well, a whole group of enemies can be eliminated in this way and before the body of the first of them manages to fall to the ground.
Such an acceleration of the hero's movements is possible thanks to his use of adrenaline - the basic factor in the game. Any task that requires lethal precision and agility depletes this resources, which, however, regenerates over time. We can also speed up the production of this hormone by injecting special substances or simply by performing subsequent finishers.
Cipher's basic weapon is his knife. Nothing prevents him from using rifles, pistols, shotguns and other weapons taken from enemies. If necessary, he can also use his hands and legs to finish off his opponent.
What plays an important role in gameplay is the AI of the enemies. They do not move along predetermined paths. Each time they react in a different way to a given stimulus (e.g. sudden black out), and when they feel threatened, they call help from their companions.
