CountryBalls Heroes is a turn-based strategy inspired by Heroes of Might & Magic III and Polandball memes initiated in 2009 by German internet s from krautchan.net. The series with balls that represent states or their famous representatives (thus the alternative name Countryballs, which was used in the title of the game) is famous for mocking national stereotypes and relations between states. The independent Warsaw-based Innonimate Games studio, ed by the Polish company PlayWay, has transferred this concept to video game.

Plot

CountryBalls Heroes story is not too complicated. As a ball representing an chosen nation, we try to conquer our neighbours as part of a story filled with humorous references to national stereotypes and Internet memes.

Mechanics

The gameplay in CountryBalls Heroes uses a scheme known from the Heroes of Might & Magic series. We can choose from seven nations, each with its own unique city and its country-specific troops, as well as heroes leading armies into battle. The game is about exploring the map in search of resources, neutral units, etc., expanding our bases, and fighting turn-based battles on hex grids. The game' goal is to eliminate the remaining players by taking over their metropolis.

The highlight of CountryBalls Heroes is an unusual setting. The game is filled with national stereotypes and memes. In the players' armies we can find plumbers, cowboys, "typical Brits", Indians, etc., and they are led to the battle by such heroes as Morawieckiball, Trumpball or even Karateputinball Each of them can use spells and special abilities modelled on memes, allowing players to build a wall, carry out a Brexit or get the blessing of Gabenball.

Just like the Heroes of Might & Magic games, CountryBalls Heroes allows you to play alone and in local multiplayer mode.

Technical aspects

CountryBalls Heroes graphic design is based on the Polandball memes. As a result, the whole thing is presented by means of a very simple 2D graphics.
