A crazy arcade game published by Devolver Digital, featuring a highly distorted history of the cricket - from ancient times to the future. Cricket Through the Ages is about participating in crazy, cricket-inspired matches. They can be played solo or with the second player.
Cricket Through the Ages is a humorous arcade game that presents a distorted version of the history of cricket over the centuries - from prehistoric times to the distant future. The game was developed by the Free Lives studio, whose portfolio includes such titles as Genital Jousting. Devolver Digital was responsible for publishing it.
Cricket Through the Ages is based on very simple mechanics. The pillar of the game are duels, during which we take control of one of two players and our task is to hit the opponent. Of course, this has very little to do with real cricket.
We charge the throw by holding the finger on the button and release it to hit the opponent standing on the other side of the screen (or for example charging at us). If we get hit first, we lose, but if both we and our competitor miss, we can still try to achieve success by pressing the same button.
In this way, both caveman fights and knight duels with lances are presented, as well as modern and futuristic "cricket" matches (in the latter we compete with representatives of an alien civilization). From time to time we also have to take part in other challenges and take control of various objects (which is based on the same "one-button" scheme), like a shuttle flying into space.
During the game, we are accompanied by the narrator's voice, who presents an absurd, alternative version of the history of the title sport.
Cricket Through the Ages can be played alone or in two player mode in local multiplayer on a shared screen.
The graphics of Cricket Through the Ages are in a cartoon style.
