In Cthulhu: Books of Ancients, players take control of a detective who is investigating the disappearance of six children. A mysterious note dropped by an anonymous informant brings him closer to solving the case. It points to the University of Miskatonic as a place where important clues can be found.
The search leads the protagonist to the university's library, where he falls asleep while browsing books.
In Cthulhu: Books of Ancients the gameplay is based on exploration. The university mixes reality and Cthulhu mythology. During the adventure, the players discover the secrets of the Great Old Ones, perform ancient rituals and summon demons.
Cthulhu: Books of Ancients has only single player mode.
