A tactical shooter published by MicroProse company. Dagger Directive reminds of the older games from Delta Force, I.G.I. and Ghost Recon series. We control a soldier from a first-person perspective, deciding on their equipment and on the details of the mission. Combat in the game is very realistic.
Dagger Directive is a tactical shooter, maintained in the spirit of the genre's representatives from the beginning of the 21st century. It is similar to the first titles under the banners of I.G.I. series. The game was developed by the independent American studio Arcane Alpacas.
In Dagger Directive we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). The game is divided into missions that throw us into various corners of the world, and also gives us a free hand in of how we approach the implementation of individual objectives.
The game allows us to decide the time of day when we will start a specific mission, as well as to choose the soldier's equipment depending on individual needs and preferences. For example, if we plan to act quietly, we can equip ourselves with an MP5SD, whereas if we are preparing for an assault, we should take an M4 or a shotgun with us, as well as stuff grenades in our pockets. Snipers will also find something for themselves here.
This is not the end, as we should keep in mind that not everything will always go according to our expectations. It's worth preparing in advance for various scenarios, such as the possibility of dusk falling. Everything is complicated by the fact that equipment has been differentiated in of sizes and weights. This can limit our capabilities.
The creators made an effort to make the exchange of fire look as realistic as possible. The behavior of a projectile after firing is influenced by its mass and speed, as well as the distance separating it from the target or gravity. It is similar with grenades, which cause damage not only from the explosion, but also from the shrapnel, which in turn can ricochet off encountered surfaces.
In Dagger Directive we play as of Dagger, an international special task unit. We face global threats in the game, such as ecoterrorists in the Bering Sea, criminals running wild in the South Pacific, and Eastern European extremists.
We can play Dagger Directive solo or in cooperative mode over the Internet.
