Dead Pixels is an arcade shooter of the "beat 'em up" type, produced by the development team of CSR-Studios. The game takes place in the fictional city of New Hexington, which as a result of contamination of water intakes struggles with the invasion of living corpses. The player directs the actions of the hero, who has to face hordes of zombies on his way. Production is maintained in a retro climate.
Dead Pixels is a project of an independent Scottish CSR-Studios. The developers decided to combine the fascination with arcade shooters from the 8-bit era with zombies.
The action of Dead Pixels is set in 1983. Water sources in the fictitious city of New Hexington were contaminated with a dangerous chemical substance. This resulted in thousands of deceased inhabitants to return to life. Zombie hordes have begun conquering the streets...
The plot of the game is divided into three separate stories. The protagonist of the first scenario - Dead Pixels - tries to get to the airport to evacuate. The second scenario - The Solution - depicts the fate of a convict who is given a chance to be released in exchange for dealing with zombies. In Last Stand, we play as a lonely inhabitant of New Hexington, who did not manage to get out of the city.
The gameplay is based on the mechanisms well known to fans of classic beat'em ups and shooters. The hero follows the streets of the city moving from right to left, wreaking havoc in the ranks of zombies and collecting small amounts of money for each killed opponent. From time to time, he can also enter the store to buy new weapons or increase statistics.
Dead Pixels is distinguished by unconventional graphics design, stylistically referring to the production of the '80s (clearly visible pixels, a very limited number of colors, etc.). The whole experience is complemented by an atmospheric soundtrack.
