The fourth installment in a series of zombie-themed, third-person action games developed by Capcom. The story campaign brings a continuation to the storylines presented in the first installment. The player assumes the role of Frank West (appeared first in the original game) - a photographer trapped in a town overrun by hordes of zombies.
Dead Rising 4 for PC, PS4 and XONE is the fourth installment in a series of popular, zombie-themed action games. The game was created by Capcom Vancouver - the team behind production of Dead Rising 3 as well.
The action is set during Christmas. The player takes on the role of Frank West, a character from the first installment. The protagonist returns to Willamette, Colorado, after sixteen years have ed since he went through several frightening days in a local mall dominated by zombies. Now, the place is swarming with zombies again and Frank has to survive a few days until help arrives. Also, his goal is to discover who or what stands behind the return of the zombie epidemic.
Dead Rising 4 for PC, PS4 and XONE is a third-person action game with its campaign set in a large, open world, which offers both story-based missions and side quests.
The gameplay focuses on exterminating hordes of zombies. All the in-game locations are densely populated with rotten enemies – even several hundred of them can appear on the screen at a time. In combat, the player uses everything within their reach - it can be an axe, but a bench or a plant pot can serve the same purpose just as well. Weapons get damaged fast however, which forces the player to experiment all the time. This is facilitated by a system allowing to build one's own weapons. Thus the player can combine two chainsaws with oars, equip a wheelchair with machine guns or put explosives inside a ball for instance. Also, the game creates opportunities for several kinds of vehicles to be used.
Dead Rising 4 for PC, PS4 and XONE introduces many new features to the series. Frank can use an exoskeleton equipped with heavy weaponry, which gives him superhuman power. As a result, the player is capable of pulling different environmental objects and using them in combat. Furthermore, two kinds of zombies were added. Fresh is the first one - a victim of an exceptionally aggressive version of virus. The player witnesses them undergoing transformations which make them substantially faster and more clever than regular zombies. The second kind is Evo - they are more powerful and mobile. In combat, they behave very similar to predators on the hunt.
Apart from the single-player campaign, Dead Rising 4 offers a co-op mode for up to four players fighting hordes of zombies side by side. They can either go through the campaign together, gradually cleaning the town of zombies or simply play short matches.

Hardcore Gamer: 4 / 5 by Kevin Dunsmore
Fans can rest assured, Dead Rising 4 is still a Dead Rising game despite some controversial decisions.
IGN: 8.1 / 10 by Brandin Tyrrel
Dead Rising 4 has the best core gameplay the series has ever seen. Its inventive and humorous ways to put down the dead are something I still haven’t tired of, and its surprisingly interesting plot is more than just a zombie-killing delivery system. Despite the technical blemishes that come with the series, its lack of co-op story mode play, and the fun-yet-unreliable multiplayer, Frank West’s return brings the series some fresh ideas, a ton of bloody mayhem, and a whole lot of cracking wise. Here’s hoping he sticks around for a while.
