The third installment of the Digital Combat Simulator cycle. This time the authors bet on P-51D Mustang, a WWII fighter also known as "Cadillac przestworzy". At the same time it is the first game in the series, which instead of a modern machine focuses on a historical aircraft.
Digital Combat Simulator: The P-51D Mustang is a studio simulator, a game that focuses on just one machine, but instead recreates its operation in an uncompromising manner and with a great deal of attention to detail. This is another production by the Russian studio Eagle Dynamics, known for such titles as Lock On: Modern Air Combat or Flanker series.
The game is the first installment of the series, which instead of a modern machine focuses on a historical aircraft. The P-51D Mustang, also known as "Cadillac Skies", is an American single-engine fighter that was used by US aviation and its allies during both World War II and the Korean War. The design of this machine was so successful that the production of the last model was not closed until 1986, i.e. 46 years after the date of the first flight.
Digital Combat Simulator: The P-51D Mustang is a pure blood simulator and the priority for creators was to achieve maximum possible realism. Therefore, the physical engine controlling the flight is based on detailed aerodynamic data. An additional attraction is the fully interactive cockpit, which allows us to control the aircraft in the same way as real pilots. The P-51D Mustang is much less complicated than the previous versions of the series, which does not change the fact that you still have to devote a lot of time to learning control. Fortunately, extensive training missions help to master the basics of pilotage. In addition to campaign and single missions, the game also offers an extensive multiplayer mode. Interestingly, owners of all page views of the cycle can have fun on one server.
The simulator uses the same graphical engine as the previous page views of the cycle, although there have been many improvements. Textures are now much sharper, the area over which we fly is more detailed. The fun is prolonged by an extended editor attached to the game, which allows you to create your own missions and campaigns.
