Dokapon Kingdom is a combination of a cRPG game and a board game. The action takes place in a fantastic kingdom, which struggles with the invasion of monsters. The king promises the daring riches and the hand of his daughter Princess Penny if they manage to deal with the monsters. The title was produced by Sting studio.
Dokapon Kingdom is a remake of Dokapon 3-2-1 - Arashi o Yobu Yuujou, originally released in 1994 on the SNES console. The remake was developed by the Japanese studio Sting, known for such productions as Solid Runner, Baroque or Knights in the Nightmare.
The game takes place in the fantastical kingdom of Dokapon, which was attacked by a dangerous monster. The king decides to call for the help of the daredevils, offering them wealth and the hand of his daughter, Princess Penny, in exchange for killing the monsters.
The mechanics of the game are very similar to a board game. The player selects a hero from three available classes (another 6 classes can be unlocked at later stages). At the beginning of our round, we determine how far we will move on the map. Depending on the chosen direction, we can attack a monster, fight a duel with a rival or occupy one city. There is also a chance for a random encounter with a "mysterious wanderer", which allows you to play a mini-game or cause damage to one of your competitors.
The combat system used in the game is based on the principle of paper-stone scissors. Any kind of attack can be blocked (e.g. Attack wins Counter and Defend beats Attack). The game continues until all the monsters on the board have been killed and the player who accumulated the greatest wealth at that time wins.
The developers prepared several variants of the game, including a story campaign and Battle Royale mode. The game is designed for up to four players, but if necessary, we can also face AI opponents.
The 3D graphics of Dokapon Kingdom are maintained in anime style. Friendly-looking character models and bright colors should appeal to younger gamers.
