Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! is a visual novel maintained in the conventions of dating sim and psychological horror. The game is a paid, enhanced version of the free Doki Doki Literature Club from 2017. Once again, we play as a teenager ing the school's literature club in search of love. Like its predecessor, the game is for adults only and is discouraged for players with weak nerves.

Plot

The general outline of the plot remains unchanged. The main character is a high school student, whom we give a name ourselves. He s a school literary club consisting of four girls. They are Sayori, his cheerful childhood friend, Natsuki, who plays the role of a typical tsundere, Yuri, who is withdrawn and shy, and Monika, the president of the club. The protagonist spends time with the girls, writes poems with them, and gets close to them. Over time, however, the tone of the story changes dramatically, and the literary club turns out to be hiding a dark secret. DDLC Plus! further expands the game with six new side stories, bringing the player closer to the characters of the heroines.

Mechanics

In of gameplay, DDLC Plus! is a classic visual novel , based mainly on reading dialogues and choosing answers. A unique element is a mini-game that involves writing poems. We choose certain phrases to make our poetry more attractive to one of the club . The further course of the story depends on our poems and decisions we make.

The reward for the progress in the game are illustrations, which we unlock by spending time with girls after school. As a result of the introduction of side stories, the number of available illustrations has increased dramatically. Plus! adds to the game a music player, which allows us to create compilations of the songs available in the game and listen to them in the background while playing.

Technical aspects

Graphics consist of hand-drawn backgrounds and character sprites. We also often see special illustrations received for progress in the game. Plus boosts the game's resolution, allowing us to enjoy gameplay in 1080p. The game includes 26 music tracks, doubling the number of songs from the original.
