Dragon Age: Origins Expansion Pack
Release Date: March 16, 2010
An official expansion for the bestselling RPG game Dragon Age: Origins created by BioWare. The story of the expansion starts a few months after the events that occurred in the basic game. The protagonist is tasked with rebuilding the order of Grey Wardens which was decimated during the great Battle of Ostagar.
Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening is the first major expansion for Dragon Age created by BioWare, a Canadian studio which produced many other well-known role-playing games (Baldur's Gate, Mass Effect). In addition to Awakening, Dragon Age received a lot of minor extensions DLCs, including an add-on entitled Return to Ostagar.
The story of Awakening begins several months after the events of the original game. The main character is given the task of rebuilding the power of the Grey Wardens order, whose ranks were decimated during the Battle of Ostagar. The matter is not easy, however, although the war with the powerful Archdemon had been won, the darkspawn did not return underground and still pose a grave danger for the whole Ferelden. To make things worse, rumors of the emergence of an intelligent darkspawn leader, the mysterious Architect, are arising.
It is interesting that we can set out to this new adventure in two ways. If you decide to use an existing protagonist from Origins, he or she will be moved to Awakening (with the possibility to change the current statistics). If you choose a completely new character, it will be an Orlesian Warden Commander whom you will need to create in character creator. The new protagonist automatically advances to 20. Level.
The developers gave the northern part of the kingdom and previously inaccessible land of Amaranthine at our disposal, where we face the darkspawn yet again, and get to know many new secrets of the game world. Of course, we will also have to battle new, dangerous beasts, such as Inferno Golem and Spectral Dragon, which are much more intelligent than the enemies from the original game. Thanks to this, the combat should also be challenging for the more advanced characters.
Other improvement worth mentioning is adding a number of new specializations, talents, skills, and spells. Our party may be ed by up to five new adventurers, in addition to Oghren, the dwarf known from Origins. Each of these characters has a rich past and is actively involved in the journey, expressing their or disagreement at the decisions made by us.
