Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening is the first major expansion for Dragon Age created by BioWare, a Canadian studio which produced many other well-known role-playing games (Baldur's Gate, Mass Effect). In addition to Awakening, Dragon Age received a lot of minor extensions DLCs, including an add-on entitled Return to Ostagar.

The story of Awakening begins several months after the events of the original game. The main character is given the task of rebuilding the power of the Grey Wardens order, whose ranks were decimated during the Battle of Ostagar. The matter is not easy, however, although the war with the powerful Archdemon had been won, the darkspawn did not return underground and still pose a grave danger for the whole Ferelden. To make things worse, rumors of the emergence of an intelligent darkspawn leader, the mysterious Architect, are arising.
