Dragon Ball is one of the most popular mangas in the world. It has already seen many adaptations in the form of video games, an extremely popular TV series and even a full-length film. Studio NTL Inc. has decided to add to this set an MMO based on its reality. The title was published by two companies - Bird Studio and Shueisha. It is worth noting that the production was supervised by Akira Toriyama himself, the author of the original. Thanks to this, the creators were able to faithfully reflect the appearance of the location and the characters created by the mangaka.
The plot of the DBO was set exactly 217 years after the end of the story presented in the original Dragon Ball series. During this time the Earth was captured by an organization called the Dark Eye, headed by the mysterious Time Guardian Trunks. The player's task is, of course, to free the planet from the hands of invaders.
In order to do this, we must be a warrior who represents one of the three races available - people, molecules or mayin. Each nation also has completely different professions offering different skill sets. So there are quite a lot of development paths. In the game there is also a character editor that allows you to customize the appearance of your character to your liking.
The game itself consists mainly of wandering around the world and performing various tasks. Dragon Ball lovers will be glad that during the journey we meet characters known from the original manga and anime series. Thanks to the holes in the time scattered around the world, we can even take part in events described and drawn by Toriya himself.
The way of character development is presented in an interesting way. We start the adventure as a child. As we advance to the next level of experience, our hero begins to develop, also changing his physical appearance. This continues until the thirtieth or maximum level is reached.
The action of the game is observed from the perspective of a third person. The whole world is represented by three-dimensional graphics, but thanks to the use of a special technique of bold contours, the whole is maintained in a comic style.
Dragon Ball Online also offers something for lovers of competition with other people. The PVP system allows for duels between players in specially prepared arenas.
