Game mechanics

In Dread Hunger we observe the action from a first person perspective (FPP). The game takes place in vast, ice-bound locations. In the game a full day cycle has been implemented, and in order to survive until the next sunrise we should, above all, hunt for smaller animals (to provide ourselves with food), get wood to light a fire (where we can warm ourselves) or finally find coal, which we'll burn in the ship's boiler (which will allow us to continue our journey).

The matter is complicated by the fact that the weather can change in the blink of an eye and the local predators, such as wolves and polar bears, will quickly get on our trail. To defend against them, we must make good use of traps and firearms. It is worth ing that even if we do everything right, at some point we may be forced to resort to much more drastic measures. In extreme situations, cannibalism or the use of chopped-off limbs of companions as weapons may be the solution.

But it doesn't end there, because some of the crew have completely different goals. As traitors we have to do everything to make the expedition fail. ittedly, nothing stands in the way of simply shooting the rest of the crew or trying to blow up the ship's boiler. However, in order not to reveal (too early) our true nature, we should use other options, such as poisoning food, luring predators to the camp or casting curses on our companions.

Dread Hunger lets you play multiplayer over the Internet only.

Technical aspects

Dread Hunger features very good quality graphics. Character models are kept in a characteristic, slightly caricatured style.
