Mechanics

In the game we play the role of one of the four available heroes. These are Hatano Kenichi, who abandoned the criminal life of a Yakuza member, singer Miraje, detective Farg Drexler and video game developer Vivian Nussbaum. Each of them must face bloodthirsty monsters. In order to survive on each of the 20 decks of "Hope", the player must cooperate with other survivors, encouraging them to help, and manage perishable equipment and very limited resources accordingly.

The battles in Dread Nautical takes place in turn-based system and you should expect frequent dying, characteristic for roguelikes. During these events, you have to use the action points of each character in a thoughtful way. The player must also ensure that the controlled character is rested, because excessive fatigue can lead to panic, and thus to a quick and painful death from the mysterious monsters.

Technical aspects

The game is characterized by a not very technologically advanced three-dimensional graphics. Dread Nautical has a truly cartoon style that contrasts sharply with the game's serious storyline.
