Dungeons takes place in a fantasy world, but this time the roles are reversed and the player assumes the role of the bad guy who hunts a group of heroes. The protagonist is an evil lord who due to the conspiracy of his former fiancée becomes degraded.

Dungeons for PC is a strategy game strongly inspired by the Dungeon Keeper series which was very popular in the nineties of the twentieth century. The game, developed by German studio Kalypso Media, allows the player to assume the role of an evil character and hunt brave heroes.

Plot

In the game, the player assumes the role of a high ranked evil lord whose hobby is to lock adventurers in dungeons and then leech their souls. One day the protagonist becomes the victim of a conspiracy created by his former fiancée who takes over his position and degrades him. Revenge-thirsty lord now must rebuild his career from scratches. He will do it by building his own labyrinths and capturing famous heroes of fifteen different classes.

Mechanics

On each of 17 available missions the player commands not only the lord but a group of loyal goblins as well. The goblins serve as builders who create branches of the labyrinth (they dig tunnels and arrange the chambers). After creating a structure of up-to-three-floored corridors one must lure famous heroes there. Then they are locked in cells and leeched of their souls. Thanks to that the player’s rank among the evil lords increase.

The attractiveness of the dungeons can be increased by placing almost 50 different objects in them – false treasures, magic spells and – what’s most appealing for the heroes – monsters (15 types are available) on which the heroes can test themselves. Among the available creatures there are spiders, giants and she-devils. One cannot forget about the traps as well, they are used for capturing the heroes.

The interface of Dungeons for PC was designed in such a way that the player has quick access to important items and units under his command. Player can also freely rotate the camera thanks to which he can orient in the three-dimensional environment more easily.
