Edge of Nowhere for PC is an interesting action adventure game with horror elements, created with Oculus Rift virtual reality hardware in mind. The game was developed by the experienced studio Insomniac Games, the creators of such well-known tiles as the Spyro series, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance or Sunset Overdrive for Xbox One.
Plot
The game takes place in the hardly accessible area of the Antarctic. What appears to be just another rescue mission at first soon turns out to be a dangerous journey into the unknown. Nothing in Edge of Nowhere is what is seems, and a mysterious evil lurks in every nook and cranny of the frozen realm.
Mechanics
The game utilizes a third-person perspective, which is unusual since Oculus Rift was created mostly with the first-person perspective in mind. During your journey, you explore vast mountainous landscapes as well as dark narrow caves, and danger lurks everywhere. Edge of Nowhere features many arcade elements, such as jumping over crevasses or crossing a collapsing bridge. There's also no shortage of enemies for you to fight using makeshift weapons.
Technical aspects
The graphics of Edge of Nowhere are rather average, which is usual for games created for VR hardware. The game has a slightly artistic vibe and a captivating grim atmosphere, which is underscored by a suiting soundtrack.
