A Russian first-person survival horror with a focus on cooperation. Emissary Zero allows to play alone or as a group of maximum four players. We are sent to investigate a mysterious building and to conduct a series of repairs. Monsters with unpredictable behaviors stand in the way of achieving our goals and we must avoid them.
Emissary Zero is an independent project created by a Russian known as Rone Vine. The same person also created the game Estencel. This time it is a survival horror with a first-person perspective, in which we explore an enigmatic building where bizarre monsters roam.
In Emissary Zero we are sent on a night reconnaissance of a mysterious large building where numerous failures have occurred. Having at our disposal an astronaut-style suit and a flashlight, we perform repair tasks. We are ed by the manager, who stays in remote with us via chat.
The game does not contain an elaborate plot, focusing on the atmosphere of mystery surrounding the Moon.
The core of the game involves exploring dark locations filled with empty corridors and closed doors, for which a map is helpful. We engage in simple interactions with objects, performing a series of repairs and solving puzzles, such as arranging a picture from sliding tiles.
The main attraction of Emissary Zero are peculiar and dangerous creatures, from which we are forced to run, sneak, and hide. The scanner we hold tells us about their location, but we can only hold one object at a time. Although the game emphasizes the cooperative mode, a good option for a single player may be to use a machine that allows us to exchange the carried item for another one from those already held.
We can play Emissary Zero alone or online (in the company of up to three other people). We communicate with them using a voice chat. Saving the game is only possible when the companions are nearby.
A split-screen multiplayer mode is also available for two players.
Emissary Zero was created using the Unreal engine and Epic Online Services SDK.
