Release Date: March 4, 2025
Second installment of the surrealistic rhythm RPG series dating back to 2021. Everhood 2 allows to revisit the strange fantasy world, full of beings ready to challenge our character in crazy musical battles. The protagonist is a color-changing soul.
Everhood 2 is a sequel of the highly rated, musical retro RPG, full of arcade challenges and crazy plot twists. The independent company Foreign Gnomes is behind developing and publishing the game, also responsible for the production of the first part of the series.
In the game we embody a color-changing soul, delving into the secrets of a vast, unfriendly land. Its journey is accompanied by a heavenly Raven, who promises to restore the voice of the main character, provided that they first destroy the powerful Mind Dragon.
In of gameplay, the sequel is an improved version of the original. We once again delve into a complex world straight from old-school RPGs, the main objectives of which are exploration, interacting with numerous NPCs and conducting musical battles that test our agility and concentration level.
Everhood 2 also introduces more advanced combat sequences, similar to the bullet hell scenes. The main character once again competes with a single opponent who uses a series of attacks in an isolated space. Enemy attacks vary in form and creativity, requiring more thoughtful dodges from the player. The difference is also noticeable in the fighting style of our protagonist, who can now determine the color of their soul.
The player has a choice of three different colors (blue, red, and green), moreover, during the confrontation, he uses both his abilities and the available arsenal and talismans. Each weapon deals a certain amount of damage, but its power can be increased by using special Weapon Tokens. The main character develops higher skill level by continuing to participate in new battles.
The second part of Everhood retained the pixel art style of the original, however, it introduced some improvements and diversifications, including more explicit references to Japanese animation. The game also contains over 100 songs composed by artists such as Cazok and KM_EXP. Just like in the first game, there's for a Custom Battle Editor.

Game Ratings for Everhood 2 Video Game.
Loot Level Chill: 9.5 / 10 by Lyle Pendle
Everhood 2 is one of the most pleasantly surprising games I've ever reviewed. With sensational combat, bizarre vibes and banging tunes, you'd be a fool to skip past this out of this world RPG.
But Why Tho?: 6 / 10 by Mick Abrahamson
Compared to its predecessor, with a well-defined motif, Everhood 2 will give you whiplash from how often the story changes directions. That indecisiveness is ultimately its downfall, leaving you scratching your head and wondering, “Is that really how it ends?”
Thumb Culture: 5 / 5
I got the chance to relive an experience that I enjoyed several years ago and go under some new tools and a fresh coat of paint. Foreign Gnomes made some amazing additions to their game for map/fight builder, speed runners and casual players. Yet, with all this, I feel like they did drop the ball on only one thing, being the manual input codes. I would understand that not having the codes being easy to revisit due to the story. But, at least they give us a key to the arena for easy access. So, play it on PC or on Steam Deck if you have one, because boy oh boy will eyes be on you if they can see what you’re playing. Though, don’t break out the fight stick unless it’s necessary! I give Everhood 2 the Thumb Culture Platinum Award
