Joseph: Collapse is the third big expansion with roguelite elements for the first-person shooter Far Cry 6. In it, we delve into the mind of the antagonist from the 5th installment of the series and witness his internal struggle.
Joseph: Collapse is the third big expansion with roguelite elements for the first-person shooter Far Cry 6. It was developed by Ubisoft. The expansion is not standalone and requires the basic version of the game.
In this DLC we control the main antagonist from FC5, Joseph Seed, a former leader of a religious cult, convinced that he is God's chosen one. We learn about his tormented mind from the inside - his struggle with his former followers after the fall of his faith and his final confrontation with his family .
In this expansion, game mechanics is very similar to that from the first two DLCs with villains from the series (Pagan). The action takes place on a new open map - a twisted version of Hope County from Far Cry 5. Roguelite elements were added to the gameplay mechanics from FC6. When we die, we lose our progress and carried items and start the game over, keeping only purchased upgrades, weapons hidden in designated places, and unlocked paths and shortcuts. Randomly generated content makes it possible to explore locations many times, facing different enemies and different challenges each time.
Joseph: Collapse can be played solo or with a friend over a network.

Far Cry is a series of first-person shooters (FPS) with a sandbox gameplay model. The leading theme of the series is spectacular shootouts using modern firearms, but the developers are not afraid to experiment and from time to time serve players a trip to completely different realities, such as distant prehistory (where rifles and flamethrowers are replaced by bows and machetes) or an alternative world in the climate of cyberpunk (where cyborg soldiers fight using laser weapons). The series allows us to drive vehicles, including jeeps or boats with machine guns, and sometimes to ride animals (such as elephants). Starting with the third installment, RPG-like elements, such as crafting and character skill development, began to enter the series. Later installments were also equipped with level editors.

As the final DLC in the season , Far Cry 6 – Joseph: Collapse can aptly be described as more of the same. There are no innovative hooks or remixes to the gameplay, and the story is competent, but it doesn't hit the highs of the previous installments. It's meant to fill in the gap between the prior games, but the story nuggets feel more like a retread than new insight into Joseph's character. It's a missed opportunity for a deep dive into Eden's Gate's charismatic leader.

For Far Cry 6 players looking for a reason to play more of the game and just want more of its satisfying gunplay or enjoy the structure of the previous two DLCs, “Collapse” is an easy recommendation. However, players hoping for it to do a little more or introduce a unique aspect to the rogue-lite structure to reflect Joseph’s inclusion will ultimately be disappointed.

The Collapse DLC for Far Cry 6 is a great combination of Mindless Shooting, on the brink of Survival and Looking back at what went wrong. The ability of co-op once again is a great addition to a format like this, giving a better challenge and a better chance at making it out alive. Having its own flaws of being highly repetitive in of objective after a few runs, it does allow you to increase difficulty with 5 different levels.
