At first glance, Flame vs Blaze is a classic MOBA production. But the very first battle makes it clear that Square Enix decided to utilize some interesting, even novel mechanics. One of the novelties are the bosses of each team. In the first half of the battle, both teams try to charge their Reactors with as much mana as then can; it is gathered by eliminating opponents. Eventually, the bosses are awakened and enter the fray. Their power level depends on the amount of gathered mana.

Another interesting feature are neutral enemies appearing on maps – they can be recruited to your team. All you have to do is best them in combat. The neutral monsters are nothing more than cannon fodder, although their special abilities and sheer numbers can prove very useful in the hands of an experienced player. Participating in matches also earns you special tickets, which allow you to access equipment and upgrade cards. This enhances the agents' abilities and improves your chances to win. Victories not only earn you ranking points, but also Midas coins, which you can spend on recruiting new agents. Gathering enough currency may be quite time-consuming, so if you don't have much time to play, you can resort to microtransations.

Technical aspects

Visuals-wise, the game is not necessarily the prettiest MOBA production currently on the market, but the 3D graphics utilizing an anime style can look quite nice. This is especially true when the bosses appear on the battlefield, flooding the screen with various lighting effects accompanying the most powerful special attacks. Flame vs Blaze features a simple -friendly controls system, which makes the game very accessible, allowing you to have fun without much practice beforehand.
