Fortress Europe: The Liberation of is a strategy game that allows players to lead American, British and German troops in a series of the most important military operations of World War II on the Western Front. The action of the game begins with the landing of Allied troops in Normandy on June 6, 1944, and ends with the breakthrough of the western front by the Allied troops on September 30 of the same year.

The player can command both American, British or German troops. The game has a clear graphic design (isometric view). The game takes place in the so-called "continuous turn-based system" combining the advantages of real time and turns. As in other Matrix productions, we are dealing with a careful recreation of the realities of the battlefield at that time (including the supply and impact of weather conditions on aviation), and a faithful representation of the units that took part in the fights in Normandy.
