In Franchise Hockey Manager 8, the player takes control of a ice hockey team. His tasks include recruiting players, setting their training plans, as well as creating strategies and modifying them during matches. He also has to take care of the business side of the club, ensuring constant revenue and controlling expenses.

The game was created under license of the NHL (National Hockey League), a professional organization of 31 ice hockey teams from North America. Thanks to this we get real teams, rinks and players. Players can play the 2020-2021 season, and updated statistics also allow them to simulate the 2021-2022 season. Historical games from all previous years are also available, starting from 1917.

We can lead national teams and fight for the world championship. Junior, college and European leagues are also available, including historical versions. Players can also create their own league.

There have been quite a few changes compared to Franchise Hockey Manager 7. The player and team databases have been updated and additional rumors and events have been introduced. The financial system has also been expanded, offering more control over budgets and business operations. New decisions have been added that allow to change the behavior of players during matches. In addition, talent scouts provide more detailed reports and the post-match screens offer more statistics and information than in the previous game. The interface has also been improved and a virtual notepad has been introduced to allow players to create their own in-game notes.

Technical aspects

Franchise Hockey Manager 8 features simple 2D graphics. Compared to the previous part, the appearance of the match preview mode has been improved to make it more clear. In addition, player profiles are now presented in a form modeled after collectible cards collected by ice hockey fans.
