Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 is the third installment of the RPG series, which started in 2021. It is the culmination of the trilogy and the game was developed by the Japanese studio CyberConnect2, which has been overseeing the development of the brand from the beginning.
Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 develops and improves the mechanics known from the previous parts of the series, while maintaining their most important elements.
We watch the events from the side and command the crew of Taranis, who are engaged in fierce battles with opponents. The skirmishes take place in turn-based mode, and during them we have to staff the tank's arsenal, selecting crew based on their abilities, as well as strengths and weaknesses. Their mutual relationships also play an important role, which we build as we progress.
While traversing the game world, we indicate the next travel destinations on the map. As was the case before, we can either take the shortest path, or be tempted by valuable rewards and choose a longer route full of greater challenges.
In Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3, the creators introduced a number of new features and improvements. The combat system now allows us to exploit the weaknesses of adversaries and inflict increasing damage from attack to attack. Additionally, we get ing attacks at our disposal, the skillful use of which can change the fate of many battles.
The break system has also been expanded. We can use the Omega Terminal and develop Taranis until it reaches its final form. Special Power Spots allow us to unlock previously unavailable tank powers.
Transmissions, on the other hand, allow us to interact with ing characters that we engage in the aforementioned attacks. Among them, we can find a legendary warrior known from previous installments of the series and former enemies.
The list of new features is topped by the Akasha , which allows us to move along the timeline and manipulate destiny.
The action of Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 takes place after the events depicted in the second installment of the series. Despite this, the game was prepared in such a way that knowledge of its predecessors was not necessary.
Malt, the previous main character of the series, disappeared without a trace. His friends, led by a mysterious voice, find the Taranis tank and decide to go to the very heart of the Bermian Empire, hoping that in this way they will be able to find their dear companion. However, our protagonists must be on guard, as the Crimson Knights, the most powerful Bermian soldiers, are sent against them.
How their expedition ends largely depends on the choices we make.
Similar to previous games under this banner, the graphic design of Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 was maintained in a style inspired by the works of Studio Ghibli.

Still, if you do manage to pull through and enjoy the whole trilogy, or just want to skip the gameplay in favor of the story due to the Fast Mode difficulty setting, then I think you’ll find a pretty good finale to a fun trilogy of strategy RPGs.
Worth Playing: 9 / 10 by Chris "Atom" DeAngelus
Overall, Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 is the strongest game in the franchise to date. While the plot is more over-the-top than the first game, it creates a far more compelling and interesting narrative to the sequel, while also expanding and building upon the many gameplay improvements. The combat system has never been better, and the mechanics have been polished to a sheen. It has flaws, and not all the plot points are going to work, but it's proof that CyberConnect knows how to keep players invested in the franchise.
