Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 is the third installment of the RPG series, which started in 2021. It is the culmination of the trilogy and the game was developed by the Japanese studio CyberConnect2, which has been overseeing the development of the brand from the beginning.

Gameplay

Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 develops and improves the mechanics known from the previous parts of the series, while maintaining their most important elements.

Turn-based battles

We watch the events from the side and command the crew of Taranis, who are engaged in fierce battles with opponents. The skirmishes take place in turn-based mode, and during them we have to staff the tank's arsenal, selecting crew based on their abilities, as well as strengths and weaknesses. Their mutual relationships also play an important role, which we build as we progress.

Exploring the world

While traversing the game world, we indicate the next travel destinations on the map. As was the case before, we can either take the shortest path, or be tempted by valuable rewards and choose a longer route full of greater challenges.

New features

In Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3, the creators introduced a number of new features and improvements. The combat system now allows us to exploit the weaknesses of adversaries and inflict increasing damage from attack to attack. Additionally, we get ing attacks at our disposal, the skillful use of which can change the fate of many battles.

Still, if you do manage to pull through and enjoy the whole trilogy, or just want to skip the gameplay in favor of the story due to the Fast Mode difficulty setting, then I think you’ll find a pretty good finale to a fun trilogy of strategy RPGs.

Overall, Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 is the strongest game in the franchise to date. While the plot is more over-the-top than the first game, it creates a far more compelling and interesting narrative to the sequel, while also expanding and building upon the many gameplay improvements. The combat system has never been better, and the mechanics have been polished to a sheen. It has flaws, and not all the plot points are going to work, but it's proof that CyberConnect knows how to keep players invested in the franchise.
