Game Over Carrara is a horror adventure game. It was developed by an independent Italian developer Elvis Morelli, and it was possible thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. The game was divided into episodes and while the first two episodes can be played for free, the third is available as paid DLC.

Plot

The action of Game Over Carrara takes place in the titular Italian town during the zombie apocalypse. Although each episode introduces us to a different character and tells us about different events, they not only share the same plot background, but also have various references to the other episodes.

Mechanics

In Game Over Carrara we observe the action from the first person perspective (FPP). During the game we travel through Carrara, talk with other survivors and solve various puzzles. Moreover, each episode introduces unique mechanics, such as the indicator of the noise level generated by the hero in the first one or shooting the living dead (which is presented in the form of QTE) and a radio that allows communication with other survivors in the second episode.

The locations we visit during the game, as well as any objects or characters we encounter on our way, are presented in the form of almost entirely static graphics or photographs. By pressing buttons displayed on the screen, we interact with elements of the environment or move to new places.

Technical aspects

Graphics in Game Over Carrara is made up of both 3D elements and appropriately modified photographs. What's interesting, the characters in the game are real Carrara residents; there are also real stores and companies, which ed the developer financially while working on the first two episodes.
