Siege Survival: Gloria Victis is a strategy game with elements of survival and stealth games. The game, inspired by the bestselling This War of Mine, was developed by independent teams FishTankStudio and Black Eye Games and published by Ravenscourt.
Siege Survival: Gloria Victis takes us into a medieval fantasy universe created for the game Gloria Victis. During the game, we take control of the civilians locked in the besieged castle. In anticipation of the relief, which is due to arrive in a few weeks, our charges must fight for survival and the efforts of the castle defenders.
In Siege Survival: Gloria Victis the action is shown from a top-down view. The gameplay was divided into two different segments, depending on the time of day.
Under cover of darkness we send the trapped civilians to loot the ruins of the city. As there is nothing left to look for in safe places, our people have to venture into ruined districts patrolled by enemy troops for priceless supplies. Sneaking behind the backs of enemy troops, civilians not only look for valuable resources, but also meet other looters (with whom they can trade) or those in need (which they can help... or not).
During the day we deal with the management of scarce resources. So we construct necessary structures (such as a fireplace where people can prepare a meal), process the food (so it wouldn't rot), and the soldiers fighting on the castle walls. All this is complemented by the need to make morally ambiguous choices. The inhabitants of the castle are not only afflicted by hunger and fear, but also by numerous illnesses, and it is up to us to help those in need in the ruins or to give food to the army in order to raise the morale of the army at the expense of ordinary inhabitants.
Siege Survival: Gloria Victis has decent quality graphics, which is typical for the genre. For the purposes of the game, the authors have prepared an extensive editor allowing for the creation of their own scripts and sharing them with the community.

Siege Survival: Gloria Victis is a thoroughly brutal mix of simulation and roguelike. It’s more narrow focus may alienate those wanting a more complete management and strategy title, but may interest others. It’s only for those who want an unforgiving experience and are happy to labour not for a glorious kingdom, but for one more day of desperate survival. If you want a darker simulation title then you’ll find Siege Survival: Gloria Victis is gritty enough to clear a snowed-in driveway in Antarctica.

I would recommend Siege Survival: Gloria Victis to players who like difficult management games and muddy depressing fantasy. I know you guys are out there. I’m one of those people. And despite my many criticisms of the game, I intend to keep playing it after this review has gone live. That’s not necessarily always the case! But there is a spark of something at the core of Siege Survival: Gloria Victis. It’s a puzzle, and if I can just line all the pieces up, I know I’ll feel the satisfaction of solving a difficult gaming challenge. But I will not be able to help imagining the game this could have been; brighter, sleeker, and more imaginative.

The strength of Gloria Victis: Siege Survival comes from an unusual mix of strategy, stealth, and narrative. The game is polished, quite pretty, with a clean interface, lacks bugs, and offers multiple options for setting the difficulty level. Siege Survival may be a small game, but it has a heart.
