Release Date: November 14, 2013
A sequel to the dynamic action game with RPG features inspired by the Monster Hunter series and developed by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Like its predecessor, God Eater 2 was made for PlayStation handhelds. We play as a hero wielding a magical weapon, whose party must deal with more and more powerful monsters.
God Eater 2 is a sequel to dynamic Monster Hunter series in mind. This results in many similarities to Capcom’s franchise, as we play a well-armed hero and face off more and more powerful creatures.
The story of God Eater 2 for PSP and PSV starts three years after events from first God Eater, when terrifying beasts invaded the world and were then hunted by people called God Eaters. But now the heroes must face a new threat in form of red rain that spreads an incurable disease.
God Eater 2 uses arcade fighting system that promotes player’s reaction time and a preparation of proper tactic. Every enemy has its strong and weak spots, and discovering them is a key to victory. Players can make use of many weapons, including two new: Boost Hammer and Charge Spear. Those weapons dictate player’s play style and tactics he uses.
While the main thrust of God Eater 2 for PSP and PSV is single player campaign, the game also offers a multiplayer mode, which has been enhanced with some novelties, like the new Engage System.
As far as its visuals go, God Eater for PSP and PSV doesn’t deviate from the path established by the first installment, maintaining the decent level of visual fidelity. Creators made some improvements to characters’ models, while also giving proper variety of locations.
