Since the spectacular success of The Matrix, the motif of a man who suddenly discovers the truth about the world around him has become extremely popular. The Golden Eagle program was created a few years earlier, but it is hard not to notice certain similarities that characterize the Wachowski brothers' trilogy. Like Neo, Friedrich von Horgen is awakened by the Resistance Movement to confront a powerful organization and find the Golden Eagle hidden in the safes of the title part.
Due to the fact that von Horgen worked as a guardian, from the very beginning there is a weapon in his hands. It will be used to exterminate other bodyguards who immediately after the Resistance Movement's intervention organized a hunt for a disenfranchisee. At this stage of the struggle it seems that the Lorrier product is nothing more than a traditional shooting, but it's just appearances. The game changes its face after reaching the first terminal, densely located throughout the castle. It is here that Friedrich will read the latest news and emails from the rebels, which will tell him the details of a gloomy story.
Golden Eagle successfully combines adventure and dexterity elements. Our hero reacts with a delay to the commands given, so during exploration you should move slowly and immediately fold to shoot. In the lower left corner of the screen there is a battery that continuously indicates the energy level of Friedrich. If it falls to zero, the player goes back to the last saved position or is transferred to prison, from where he must of course escape. Adventure elements boil down to bying the numerous pitfalls waiting for inattentive players in all segments of the complex. The game is certainly not the easiest one.
The authors took care of a decent audiovisual setting. Enjoy the impeccable animation of characters who move in a very realistic way. Unfortunately, there were no ideas about the available movements of the main character. He can jump, bend and shoot (both standing and forging). The downside is the inability to turn around with the extended weapon (Friedrich will only put his hand with the knock back, but nothing more) and to roll under the floor, which would often save the rebel's life and bring some dynamism to the fight.
