Release Date: November 19, 2015
A classic jRPG with turn-based combat system, developed by Spike Chunsoft in collaboration with MonochromeCorp studio, and an informal sequel to the 2011 Grand Knights History, both games developed under the lead of Tomohiko Deguchi. The game is set in a fantasy realm divided between four warring factions. We start as a leader of our own mercenary group and with the progress of the game we embrace the cause of one side of the conflict.
Grand Kingdom is a classic 2D jRPG game with a turn-based combat system focused on strategic planning. The game was developed by Spike Chunsoft and MonochromeCorp. The development team was led by Tomohiko Deguchi, who also worked on Grand Knights History. Both works of the author share many common features, however, Grand Kingdom can be called an informal sequel.
Grand Kingdom takes us to the classic fantasy world, full of magic and heroic deeds. The continent on which the action takes place is divided between four opposing factions. We are leaders of a mercenary unit and over time we choose which of the powers participating in the conflict we want to . The story is presented in the form of fully voiced animated cut-scenes, realized in the form known from visual novel games.
During the adventure, we manage a team of warriors - we choose their equipment and determine the direction of development. The battles use a turn-based combat system and are presented in 2D, the perspective known from side-scroll games. During the fight, players need to plan their moves and think strategically, as well as use various special skills and combos.
Grand Kingdom also offers a multiplayer mode, allowing for cooperation fun and competition. Grand Kingdoms also allows PlayStation 4 and PS Vita owners to play together and share their saved game status between the two versions of the title.
Grand Kingdom is characterized by exceptionally pleasant 2D graphics which are accompanied by an equally refined soundtrack.

As hack’n’slash constitutes one extremity of the RPG genre, its other side are the tactical RPGs, emphasizing complex, strategic battles played in turns. Here's a ranking of the best tactical RPGs, according to our staff.
Game Ratings for Grand Kingdom Video Game.
GamingTrend: 90 / 100 by Patrick Rost
Grand Kingdom is a grand triumph of innovation and amalgamation, standing alone as a semi-new type of JRPG altogether. Mixing elements from other JPRGs, classic fighting games, and board game elements into an all new experience, Grand Kingdom will have some dedicated players still moving troops through enemies lands for years to come.
Destructoid: 7 / 10 by CJ Andriessen
Grand Kingdom is unlike any other tactical-RPG on the market that I know of. For $40, you're getting an adventure that can last you weeks if not months, though you may tire of it before you see everything it has to offer.
DarkZero: 8 / 10 by Dominic Sheard
The story might be forgettable, but Grand Kingdom's gameplay certainly is not. This is a game that features a refreshing and unique battle concept for a genre that can often feature formulaic combat, mixing its deep mechanics to bring a challenging, beautiful and inventive game that is a fascinating breath of fresh air for tactical RPGs.
