Gunsport is an unusual sports game, in which two teams play volleyball using pistols, rifles and shotguns. Matches are played on small maps characterized by their futuristic stylistics, and gameplay primarily focuses on player’s skill and sharp eye. Gunsport was developed by Necrosoft Games.
Plot
In a vision of the future the humanity has renounced traditional warfare, the division into nationalities and all the other things that incited armed conflicts in the past. Despite their peaceable attitude, people have not stopped producing weapons. Here, however, they serve quite a different purpose – they are used for an unusual variety of volleyball, one of new forms of sports that people on the entire Earth are ionate about. This particular variety has gained the greatest popularity in Neo Tokio, and this is exactly where Gunsport takes place.
Mechanics
Matches are played in either 2 vs. 2 or 1 vs. 1 mode. Players’ main task is to set the ball over the net into the opponent’s half of the field by shooting it with firearms. The number of shots you can fire is limited, which requires constant planning and tactical approach to constructing actions. In the case of 2 vs. 2 matches, each team consists of an attacker and a defender, and the latter cannot move from their place. The more times you set the ball over the net, the more points are rewarded for winning the action.
Technical aspects
In-game arenas where matches are played are characterized by clever level design – each court is unique, while all of them are set in cyberpunk stylistics, mainly visible in the ever-present neon lights. The developers chose to realize Gunsport in pixel art graphics, but all locations and characters were created with much care for detail.
