Valve's Half-Life 2 as well as Half-Life 2: Episode One and Half-Life 2: Episode Two are titles that boast an extremely large group of dedicated fans from around the world. It is the avid enthusiasts of the series that are behind Half Life 2: VR, i.e. a comprehensive modification that enriches the basic versions of the aforementioned game with for VR goggles and dedicated motion controllers. The mod does not introduce any changes to the storyline or game design - but it significantly changes the control system.
Thanks to Half-Life 2: VR, the players can look around freely by moving their heads. Aiming is done with the use of controllers - their movements are translated into the hand movements of the main character, Gordon Freeman.
Due to the fact that each weapon has been specially adapted to the motion controllers, the use of an extensive arsenal in many cases requires additional movements - reloading the .357 Magnum involves, for example, the need to swing our hand to latch the drum with cartridges, while using the crowbar requires waving our hands.
There are several ways to navigate the environment - you can choose between a standard, smooth way of moving and typical VR teleportation over short distances.
Half-Life 2: VR offers a refreshed interface that has been adapted to the specificities of VR sets, as well as improved visuals - individual locations have been enriched with HDR lighting and high-resolution shadows. The modification is distributed for free and of course, requires the basic version of Half-Life 2 and both episodes developed by Valve.
