Hauntii is a cross between an adventure game and a twin-stick shooter. The player explores the afterlife as a ghost, solving puzzles, fighting enemies, possessing other characters and objects.
Hauntii is an action adventure shooter and the debut project of the American studio Moonlop Games.
The game is set in Eternity, an afterlife where souls go after death. Once there, they are immortal, yet not safe. There are many dangers lurking within the realm, which can lead the souls astray and corrupt them into warped versions of their former selves.
The main character is Hauntii, one of the ghosts traversing Eternity, setting out on a journey and discovering the secrets of the Eternians, a mysterious race who lead lost souls to a dark tower where they are to supposedly ascend.
Hauntii is a cross between an adventure game and a shooter. The player explores the world, talks to the people of Eternity and solves puzzles by possessing people and objects.
Occasionally we'll also encounter enemies, engaging them in twin-stick shooter combat.
Throughout our journey we can also acquire stars, which gradually reveal our character's former life to us.
The game only s singleplayer.
Execution is a strong point of Hauntii. The game mixes appealing 2D visuals with an unusual, distinctive artstyle. The soundtrack was composed by LightReturn.

Game Ratings for Hauntii Video Game.
NintendoWorldReport: 7.5 / 10 by Alex Orona
When reflecting on my time with Hauntii, I think about the music and the art, and less so on how it played. Hauntii is a breathtaking experience, but it just doesn't do enough with it. This game makes a compelling case for videogames as art, but it stops short when it comes to the actual mechanics.
Shacknews: 7 / 10 by Ozzie Mejia
Hauntii has some flaws, but it's short enough with enough unique ideas that I'd say it's worth experiencing. The opening alone is a brilliant example of the type of artistic expression that games are capable of producing. Even if the majority of the rest of the game doesn't quite hit its lofty heights, it's still an enjoyable way to a weekend.
Hardcore Gamer: 3.5 / 5 by Jordan Helm
While its lacking narrative and world-building comes off a missed opportunity that, despite momentary hints, never properly materializes, Hauntii and Moonloop Games' iration and understanding of collectathon-styled adventures is what keeps this latest journey through the afterlife feeling anything but lifeless. The two-tone aesthetic and use of light-and-dark contrast, specifically in the context of level design, is where the game is at its most cleverly-orchestrated. Despite its minimalist appearance, this is a game whose subtle suggestions to maybe venture off the beaten path now and again is never too far away. Complimented along the way by a possession-based mechanic that plays host to challenges, mini-games and even a couple of set-pieces providing just the right amount of variety. It may not go down as the most memorable or indeed the most fulfilling example of its genre or indeed this style of game, but Hauntii still proves that even flawed creations can still bear a welcome level of enjoyment.
