Hearthstone: The League of Explorers for AND, PC and iOS is expansion for Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft collectible card game. The DLC, like the game itself, was developed by the Blizzard Entertainment studio.
Plot
Plot revolves around titular League of Explorers. This organization was founded at the behest of King Magni Bronzebeard to investigate origins of dwarven race. Its realize this task by traveling, conducting experiments, and creating a rich documentation of their activities. However, above all, they are famous for organizing dangerous expeditions to unexplored corners of the world.
Story of the expansion begins when the League of Explorers gets on track of the Staff of Origination – a powerful artifact that can bring unspeakable destruction, should it land in the wrong hands. This artefact was broken into several parts which then were hidden in three places – in the Temple of Orsis, inside a once mighty Titan citadel Uldaman and in the Ruined City.
Main protagonists of the DLC are: dwarf Brann Bronzebeard, adventurer Reno Jackson, briliant night elf scholar Elise Starseeker and a murlock – Sir Finley Mrrgglton.
Mechanics
Hearthstone: The League of Explorers for AND, PC and iOS introduces no radical changes to the mechanics of Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. Adventure focuses mainly on expanding the content of the title.
Same as the previous expansions, the adventure is divided into four stages. Each of them forces us to fight with a number of various enemies and with a powerful boss waiting at the end of a given stage. With consecutive victorious matches we are awarded with cards that we can add to our collection.
Hearthstone: The League of Explorers for AND, PC and iOS features a set of new locations, 45 additional collectible cards, as well as nine Class Challenges in which we can use preset decks to fight opponents. Victory is rewarded with a new class-specific card. For veteran players seeking real challenges there is a damanding Heroic mode. An interesting novelty is a new keyword – “discover”. After playing a card with this power we get the opportunity to choose one from 3 random cards that are suitable for our class and meet a specified condition.
