The great popularity of Heavy Fire: Special Operations with WiiWare s made Teyon's team set about working on the sequel. The creators decided to use their experience and based on proven solutions to enrich the gameplay with new elements.
Heavy Fire: Black Arms action was set in South America. As a recruiter of an elite commando unit, the player sets out with his troop on a dangerous mission to dismantle the influential arms dealer cartel, Fuerza de Voluntad.
As in the original published eight months earlier, the game was based on the mechanics of the classic "rifle scope". (rail shooter). The player observes the action from the perspective of the first person (FPP), but can only direct the weapon sights. Its task is to eliminate emerging opponents using a large arsenal of weapons (e.g. machine guns, grenades and rocket launchers).
Among the competing products, Heavy Fire: Black Arms stands out above all by its dynamic action with lots of explosions and the freedom to destroy elements of the environment (cars, helicopters, barrels, trees, etc.). The novelties introduced by the creators include a more varied character of missions played on land, from the air and water, as well as changing weather conditions in which the commandos have to cope. The system of recording the state of the game has also been modified, introducing the so-called checkpoints.
Like the first part, in Heavy Fire: Black Arms you can play on your own or in the local cooperation mode with the second player. In this case, however, in order to have fun together, it is necessary to have an additional Wii Remote controller.
The audio-visual setting of the game does not deviate from the standards set by Heavy Fire: Special Operations. 3D graphics are not too detailed, but the dynamics of events on the screen and the cinema style of presentation effectively compensate for minor shortcomings.
