Helldivers 2 is a co-op shooter and a sequel to the warmly received Helldivers from 2015. It was developed by the same team as the original, Arrowhead Game Studios.
Plot
Helldivers 2 is set in a sci-fi universe. We play as the titular soldiers defending their planet - Super Earth - from extraterrestials. Their task is to fight Terminids, Automatons and spread the ideals of freedom, peace and democracy throughout the entire hostile galaxy.
Mechanics
Unlike the previous game, Helldivers 2 makes use of the third-person perspective (TPP). The gameplay revolves around eliminating hordes of enemies. Players can wield many different weapons, such as pistols, machine guns and flamethrowers. We also have some deadlier tools at our disposal, such as air drops of anti-personnel mines, automatic turrets or powerful bombs that can tip the scales in our favour. We can also use defensive equipment, such as shield generators.
Since there are plenty of ways to dispatch enemies, it's worth taking a moment to customize our soldier's gear to suit our current needs and playstyle before each battle. As we progress, we unlock various upgrades that make us even more effective at killing.
Game modes
Helldivers 2 was created with online multiplayer in mind, ing co-op for four people at once. We must also watch out for friendly fire; we must stay in with our teammates and coordinate our actions to avoid it.

The visuals Helldivers 2 are very appealing. The battlefields are varied while the enemy models are very detailed.

After all of this, I got what I was expecting from the game: a damn fun time. What I didn’t expect, however, is to be thinking about it so much after each game, wanting to dive right back into hell with others alongside me. I can’t wait to get better at the game, face bigger threats, to see what planets this galaxy holds, and just what each planet will throw my way. I’m not one to often fall into multiplayer experiences, but even with a quickly-resolved rocky launch, Helldivers 2 is a strong and careful foundation for the beginnings of a flagship multiplayer experience of 2024 and, if it bears the strength of its launch, into the years to come.
