Hidden Mysteries: Salem Secrets - Witch Trials of 1692 is a detective adventure with hidden objects and puzzles, produced by Gunnar Games. Hidden Mysteries: Salem Secrets - Witch Trials of 1692, released on PC and NDS, is a detective adventure game for casuals (occasional players) and the second installment of a series developed by Gunnar Games.
The action of the game is set in 1692. The player plays the role of constable Hawthorne, who arrives in the town of Salem, New England, on the order of the governor of Massachusetts, to investigate four girls who complain about mysterious attacks of frenzy and convulsions. Residents suspect that they have fallen victim to witches... Contrary to appearances, the plot of Hidden Mysteries: Salem Secrets - Witch Trials of 1692 is only loosely based on events connected with the famous witch trials.
As befits a detective game, the player must find evidence to clarify the case. We visit more than 50 locations depicting the settlement and its surroundings. The player faces challenges in the form of puzzles such as "hidden objects" and relatively simple puzzles and logical tasks.
Hidden Mysteries: Salem Secrets - Witch Trials of 1692 is characterized by an atmospheric audiovisual setting, which according to the creators' assumptions, has to emphasize the atmosphere of uncanny and horror. The two-dimensional graphics are based on hand-drawn backgrounds with subdued colors, which makes it even more difficult to find hidden objects. The whole experience is complemented by a calm, non-imposing soundtrack.
