The third installment in a popular action game series, in which you assume the role of a paid assassin, Agent 47. Just like the first two games, this one too was developed by Io Interactive. However, this installment is much darker and more brutal than its two predecessors. This was achieved by some audiovisual tricks as well as the story itself, which would fit a full-blooded crime movie.
The game catches the player’s attention from the very beginning. We meet the protagonist in a Parisian hotel, where he retreates with a gunshot wound. Exhausted, burning with fever, and under the influence of painkillers he took, Agent 47 lies unconscious plagued by hallucinations and visions of the past.
The game consists of 12 large missions of which construction is no different from the first two Hitman games; meaning there are always several objectives and multiple ways to reach them. The quests are scattered all over the world in a variety of locations, including Romania, Hong Kong, Siberia, Great Britain or . The arsenal of weapons and tools of murder that you can use is now over 30, including firearms and various melee weapons (such as billiard cue, swords, butcher’s hooks, and the fiber wire). Agent 47 now knows several new attacks, including Splinter Cell-inspired sneak kills. Naturally, developers took care to implement more advanced AI, so that players hungry for challenge could strain their skills from the very beginning. Opponents react to every strange sound or even the briefest sight of your hero.
Hitman: Contracts uses new 3D graphics engine, featuring such effects as motion blur and light bloom, which help to deepen the game’s dark atmosphere.
