Honkai: Star Rail is a strategy RPG featuring turn-based combat. The game is free-to-play and features microtransactions. It was developed by the Chinese studio miHoYo, the developers of Genshin Impact and previous Honkai games.
The game's universe combines elements of sci-fi and fantasy. Honkai: Star Rail tells the story of a train-like spaceship, the Astral Express, traveling through the galaxy.
Honkai: Star Rail features a wide roster of characters, each with unique appearances, personalities and backstories. These include Himeko, a young woman who discovered the wreckage of the Astral Express and repaired it, the spearman Danheng serving as the ship's guardian, and Clara, a little girl who owns her own mech.
Honkai: Star Rail is a strategy RPG, thus its gameplay revolves around turn-based combat. The player commands a party of heroes chosen from the ship's crew. Each character has unique stats, weaponry and skills. They can all be upgraded with experience gained while adventuring.
Apart from battles, players explore space, learn the characters' backstories and complete quests. There are also expansive dungeons, beating which is required to progress through the main story.
The 3D visuals of Honkai: Star Rail are colorful, appealing and anime-inspired.
