Covering the entire spectrum of conflict during the era players will be immersed in the battlefields of yesterday from North America to Europe. From desperate cavalry charges to miracle rallies, all the emotions of combat are captured on your monitor.

The heart of Horse and Musket is the unique command and control system that realistically simulates the chaos of battle. Not quite a straight up IGOUGO approach, during a turn leaders are checked for activation. Those activated can then take their turn while everyone waits for their activation to arrive. Because there are a variety of factors involved in activation turns are quite unpredictable. The order of leaders will change turn to turn and players will have to go with the flow. As they say, the best laid plan rarely survives with the enemy.

- Brandywine, Malplaquet, Narva, and Rossbach are but a few of the over twenty scenarios (none of which appeared in Dragoon) covering the gamut of 18th century warfare from around the world. Battles vary in size from relatively small to massive. New scenarios can be created using the included easy to use scenario editor.

- Eight nationalities representing the major movers and shakers: Prussia, England, , Sweden, Russia, Saxony, Austria, and colonial America.

- A turn represents fifteen minutes of real time, with each hex scaled at 150 yards across. Infantry units are battalions, cavalry two to three squadrons per unit, artillery batteries are four or more guns a unit, and leaders are represented individually.

- Turn based gameplay with an engaging command and control system. Leaders are checked for activation each turn, with the order possibly varying from turn to turn depending on the circumstances. Will that commander you moved into position be able to exploit his advantage next turn or will he instead be exploited? Turns are tense and exciting, presenting a more realistic approach to simulating the battle than the usual standard IGOUGO structure.

- Rewards players that use real world tactics. Choose your ground properly and a cavalry charge can be devastating. Soften up marching infantry with artillery fire and take the high ground by blood, sweat, and bayonet.

- Battlefield maps and army compositions are well-researched and highly accurate. Attention to detail is found throughout the game. The rules portray 18th century combat in a detailed manner without bogging down the player. Formations, cavalry charges, morale, movement disruption, and more can all be found in the game system.

- Accurate unit types like line infantry, grenadiers, dragoons, hussars, and more.

- Isometric 24-bit colorful graphics with 3-D rendered bitmaps.

- The ability to challenge the tough computer opponent or bring the good fight to a friend via the Internet. Internet play is free and extremely easy to set up.
