A sequel of the VR open world FPS from 2020, inspired by the STALKER series. Into the Radius 2 allows us to revisit the dangerous exclusion zone, filled with anomalies, bandits, hostile creatures and valuable artifacts. We can explore it alone or in online coop mode.
Into the Radius 2 is the second installment of the FPS series inspired by STALKER. The first game came out in 2020. The sequel was developed by the authors of the first part of the series, namely the independent CM Games studio from Estonia. It was prepared with virtual reality headsets in mind.
Similar to the original, in Into the Radius 2 we find ourselves in the exclusion zone around the fictional city of Pechorsk, where mysterious and dangerous anomalies and creatures from another world run rampant. During the gameplay, we become an explorer who travels through the zone in search of valuable loot. This time he is not doomed to act alone, because the UNPSC (United Nations Pechorsk Special Committee) organization that manages the zone now allows for small teams to enter the hostile territory.
In Into the Radius 2 we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). The zone is a vast area with an open structure, which we can freely traverse. The adventure leads us through urbanized and industrial areas, as well as through dense forests and swamps. While exploring them, we carry out the quests assigned to us and gather valuable resources, bying anomalies encountered along the way and dealing with opponents.
Among the enemies we will find not only aggressive creatures, but also hostile people. We get rid of them primarily using a wide range of firearms, which have been diversified in of handling, as well as strong and weak points. We can also use the powers provided by selected artifacts. Open combat is a valid option in the game and we can rely on cover during intense firefights, but we can also approach the matter more tactically, quietly eliminating enemies or even bying them.
The game allows us to adapt each weapon to our style of play, using a rich palette of mods, including scopes and other optical elements, stocks or magazines. Additionally, we must take care of our weapons by cleaning them regularly, otherwise they may fail us at the least desired moment.
The opportunity to catch our breath is provided by visits to the base, where we accept missions, sell the collected loot and prepare equipment for the next escapades.
Into the Radius 2 can be played alone, but the game also allows us to play in cooperation mode for up to four players.
Into the Radius 2 requires virtual reality goggles and dedicated motion controllers.
